When I was in my early 20s, I set myself this goal: To be a "multi-media content goddess" by the time I turned 35.
I was asked yesterday what that title meant to me.
Over the course of my life I've followed many career trajectories, and when I was growing up I had 2 possible images of my future self - one was a high-powered corporate career woman, a la Alexis Carrington from Dynasty, the other, a vocalist / recording artist / performer.
Goals shift and evolve as quickly as our self-images do. I've done my stint in professional musical theatre. I got my Bachelor's degree in legal studies, with the intention of going to law school (which I wisely decided against ), I've logged years behind a desk in a high powered advertising agency in San Francisco's financial district, progressing swiftly up the corporate ladder. A marketing consultant for a gourmet foods line, a vocal and performance coach to pop hopefuls and boy bands and I can honestly say, however, that throughout all these different possible careers, I've not attached my own self-concept to any of them. Meaning - I never let my jobs / tasks / projects define me. I was always one to do my job, finish my job, and move on to the next task. I don't rest on laurels or accolades, or even care about them. I would say I'm more task-oriented than achievement-oriented. I don't need much external validation for my work or efforts, although such considerations are always nice.
I've done my best to follow my purpose, and not my ego, even if that meant turning down attractive opportunities just because they didn't feel true to me, or that their pursuit was simply ego-flattering.
I'm comfortable with my artistic process, and my creative drives. I know I'm a great facilitator, motivator and organizer. I flow and adapt easily to every social situation and environment. I'm a Social Darwinist who specializes in adaptability and the Iiving by the Law of Requisite Variety.
One of the most crucial components of my Optimal Mindset is based on David Allen's "Art of Stress-Free Productivity" workflow system. One of the reasons I can parallel process all my projects, avatars and careers is because I use this system to process and integrate all my tasks and information. With this process, I really do believe that there is time enough for everything.
In these past few years, in my practice as a hypnotherapist, organizational coach and vocal coach, I've been motivating people to use their talents, create achievable strategies for their goals, and express their creative impulses in a way that feels true for them. Bottom line - I want to help people perform a) better than they are now and b) with full use and access to all the talents and passions they are born and built with.
In my opinion, one of the top qualities of leadership is leading by example - and in my life, I'm actively making the most of all my skills, talent and experience - I still perform as a vocalist, I've written marketing plans, mobile content, t.v. pilots, and my first screenplay will be opening in theatres soon. I have r/evolution in my soul.
So Multimedia content: that's music, film, radio, video, books, dance - art! The expression of all these things - soon to be offered and completely available in both the digital and physical world.
Goddess: cognizance and responsibility for the divine spark, for the gifts within me, and the passion to use these gifts to inspire and empower others to do the same.
